It has always been the goal of theology that faith be expressed in every culture it encounters. For this,The National Association of Catholic Theology Students (NACATHS), Idowu-Offonran chapter, led by the president, Rev. Onaji Gregory, had her maiden NACATHS WEEK celebration from Monday, 11th of March to Sunday 17th, 2024. Celebration gears towards fostering inculturative goal of theological studies.
While declaring the week opened on Monday 11, March 2024, the Moderator of the association, Very Rev. Fr. John Nwanze assured everyone present that the different activities of the week are going to be intellectually, pastorally, socially, and spiritually enriching. The week featured a host of activities such as sporting competitions, social night for members, and a general symposium on the paper titled: The Role of Social Media in the Pastoral Ministry of a Priest" delivered by Fr Michael Chike Osamor, a priest working in the Catholic Archdiocese of Lagos. During the week, the liturgy also took a different look as theologians functioned on different capacities.
The week came to its climax on Sunday 17th, March 2024, with a thanksgiving Mass. During the Mass, the Rector, Very Rev Fr Emmanuel Lewis, officially blessed and presented to the house the first edition of the NACATHS IDOWU-OFFONRAN Chapter constitution.
The Moderator praised the executive for a job well done and congratulated members of the association for a successful week, stating that NACATHS is gradually taking a stronghold in Seminary. With so much gained and learned he then declared the week closed for the 2023/2024 session.
