As one of the events outlined for the 2019/2020 inter-semester activities, the Seminary Community  on Monday 24th February, 2020, organized a lecture on the theme: “Human Development: A Means of Self-Discovery for a Catholic Seminarian.” The lectured was delivered by Rev. Fr. Simeon Mautin, a priest of the Catholic Archdiocese of Lagos. In his lecture, Fr. Mautin having appreciated the board of Formators for the invitation to deliver the lecture, presented a profound discourse on the theme.

In his presentation, he noted that development of a person can be broken down into several segments among which are: physical, emotional, social, cognitive and moral development. But all these can be reduced to four principal segments of formation as outlined in the St. Pope John Paul II Pastoral Encyclical Pastores Dabo Vobis. Of these four, the Seminarian must pay attention to the human development since it provides the foundation in which he can form his conscience, acquire knowledge and wisdom in view of becoming a good Catholic priest. The lecture was enriched with questions and contributions from the Formators and Seminarians that were in attendance.
