The Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Ilorin, Most Rev. Anselm Pendo Lawani, emphasized the importance of building a genuine relationship with the Holy Spirit for spiritual growth. He said this during the Votive Mass of the Holy Spirit which marked the commencement of the 10th Formative session of St. Albert the Great Major Seminary, Idowu-Offonran, Ogun State on Wednesday, October 9, 2024. He encouraged the seminarians to maintain their authenticity while remaining open to the guidance of the Holy Spirit, which will perfect their nature and make them effective instruments of God.
Bishop Lawani whose visit marks a milestone as he celebrated his first inaugural Mass as bishop and his first time in the Seminary of St. Albert the Great, during his homily, highlighted the significance of spiritual growth in the formation of future Priests. The bishop stressed that seminarians are not alone in their faith journey, as the Holy Spirit, the Blessed Virgin Mary, and the Saints accompany them. Draw inspiration from them and invoke their intercession to remain faithful to Christ and His teachings the bishop said. He also emphasized the need for contemplation; urging seminarians to create time for prayer, observe moments of silence, reflect on their faith, and allow God's word to penetrate their souls.

Emmanuel Adebayo Lewis in his remarks, expressed heartfelt gratitude to Bishop Lawani for graciously presiding over the inaugural Mass and for his words of wisdom and encouragement.
