It is a custom in every Catholic institution to begin a new academic session with the Mass of the Holy Spirit as a sign of total commitment of the activities of the new session to the guidance and influence of the Holy Spirit. The Seminary community of St. Albert the Great, Idowu-Offonran gathered for the event on Saturday 6th October, 2018. The Mass which was presided over by His Lordship, Most Rev Dr. Peter Olukayode Odetoyinbo, the Catholic Bishop of Abeokuta Diocese, was the fourth of its kind in the life of the Seminary.
At the homily, the Bishop expressed appreciation to the Formators and Staff of the institution for the sacrifices they made by accepting to serve in the Seminary. He welcomed the students, both returnees and freshers, back to Seminary and advised them to accept corrections and be obedient to the rules and regulations of the Seminary. He further revealed that in the nature of things, emptying comes before filling. He therefore stressed the need for Seminarians to open themselves up to formation.
In conclusion, the bishop enjoined the Seminarians to set clear-cut goals of what they want to achieve and should discard ideologies that are contrary to their identity, for they are no longer for themselves but now for the Church, and this can only be the case when the Holy Spirit is permitted to be the principal Formator.
